Visionstream redundancy dispute in FWC on 13 June 2019

VISIONSTREAM REDUNDANDY DISPUTE IN FWC ON 13 JUNE 2019

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has granted our application for an urgent hearing in to our dispute concerning Visionstream’s job cutting campaign.

A few weeks ago Visionstream announced 49 redundancies. Since then, your Union has attempted to engage with the company through consultation to find out what the redundancies are all about, and to investigate their genuineness.

With the company continuing to advertise for new employees leading up to and during the announcements on redundancies and their ongoing use of contractors undertaking former Silcar employees’ work, we are seriously concerned that a number of these redundancies may not be genuine and proper redeployment processes within the company have not occurred.

There is also a further concern that members who have been directed to remain at home until their pending exit date are being disadvantaged in the redeployment process.

This train of thought is further amplified by Visionstream refusing to adequately address concerns raised during the consultation process, including a number of questions which remain simply unanswered.

Our hearing with the FWC is set for tomorrow morning and we will endeavour to report the outcomes to you as soon as possible afterwards.

Yours faithfully,

Greg Rayner,
DIVISIONAL SECRETARY
