Star Track Express (a wholly owned subsidy of Australia Post) has disputed the TWU’s NSW branch attempts to take industrial action for a new enterprise agreement saying the wording the TWU wanted in the new Star Track Agreement would “have the effect of depriving the CEPU and its members of a range of benefits and protections under the agreement which apply to the TWU and its members”.
Fair Work Commissioner Roberts labeled “just utterly unsustainable” the TWU’s position that naming itself as the sole union in the new agreement would not discriminate against employees. Commissioner Roberts also noted the CEPU’s right to be heard on this matter.
In response to the TWU’s claim the NSW branch secretary said the union “would expect that the CEPU would not be treated less favourably by Star Track as against any other union involved in the bargaining process and who seek to become a party to the Agreement.”
