Temporary change to long service leave at Australia Post

Australia Post has received approval from the Australian Public Service Commission to make a temporary change to the Long Service Leave (LSL) policy, allowing members to access this leave in periods of less than 7 calendar days.

This will allow members, until June 2021, to access their LSL in blocks as little as a single day.

However, in line with the Act, LSL is accrued and calculated in calendar days. Therefore, when availing of the leave in less than 7 calendar day blocks, the deduction will be calculated proportionally to reflect this.

As a simple example, availing of one single day of LSL will result in your LSL balance being depleted by 1.4 ‘days’. This proportionate deduction will be applied to all LSL that members choose to avail of outside of traditional 7 calendar day blocks.

Should you require any further information, please speak to your local State Branch Official.
