Vale - Bernie Clarke
It's with great sadness to report the passing of Bernie Clarke - a former CWU organiser, most recently finishing up his career proudly as a postie at Bayswater Delivery Centre in Melbourne. Bernie was a true believer who always acted in the best interests of the Union and its members. After a stint on the sidelines, in 2015 Bernie stood as a candidate for National Divisional Vice President as a valued member of Greg Rayner and Shane Murphy's national team. He was resoundingly elected, and successfully re-elected to the role again in 2019. He served in this role proudly, until his ill health prevented him from continuing to do so. On behalf of CWU members across the country, we extend our most heartfelt condolences to Bernie's wife Maria, a CWU member herself, and their large network of family and friends. Vale, Bernie - a great Aussie Unionist. May he rest in peace.
