Christine Holgate

MEDIA RELEASE: Posties' Union welcomes Australia Post's first female Chief Executive

The Union representing postal workers today welcomed the decision to appoint Australia Post’s first female Managing Director and Group CEO, Christine Holgate.

CEPU/CWU National Secretary Greg Rayner said he was looking forward to working with the new CEO, when she commences in her role in October.

“It’s fantastic to see a female step into the role and we congratulate Ms Holgate on her appointment.

“Her track record at Blackmores demonstrates her commitment to growth and success.

“We’re looking forward to establishing an effective open dialogue with Ms Holgate to build on our constructive relationship with the company.

“We hope to continue our work together to support Post’s transformation to sustainability – in turn, ensuring sustainable and quality Australian jobs for generations to come.

“Our members have shown restraint in recent times and demonstrated their support for sensible reform, but government pay control at 2% has been a bitter pill to swallow - something Ms Holgate’s time at Blackmores gives her special insight into.

"Ms Holgate will soon learn that Australia Post’s employees are some of Australia's hardest working and most loyal.

“We’re looking forward to working with her to ensure they are among the best rewarded too."
