Members overwhelmingly reject unfair Service Stream EA offer

CWU members have spoken and the message is clear.

In the recent vote on Service Stream’s proposed Enterprise Agreement, a whopping 86.9% of participating employees voted NO, rejecting a deal that fails to deliver fairness, respect, and recognition.

Fails to deliver fair wages

  • 3% per annum – far below inflation resulting in a pay cut, in real-terms.
  • Workers are already 10% worse off since 2021. This deal would push that to 11.5% worse off by 2027.

Offers minimal increases to allowances

  • On-call, meal, and LAFHA allowances tied to the inadequate wage offer.
  • No meaningful recognition of the real costs and demands of the job.

Rejects improvements to redundancy and travel provisions

  • Your claims for better redundancy entitlements were flatly rejected.
  • Travel time compensation is discretionary, not guaranteed – leaving members at the mercy of individual supervisors.

Ignores calls for better leave entitlements

  • No enhancements beyond the legal minimums to parental leave or domestic violence leave.

What this vote means

This decisive NO vote empowers the Union to demand Service Stream return to the bargaining table in an effort to negotiate a fairer outcome – which we have done this morning.

Should Service Stream refuse to return to negotiations, members will be empowered to escalate pressure – including considering engaging in protected industrial action.

Next Steps

In the coming weeks, we will continue to encourage Service Stream’s return to bargaining whilst also engaging directly with members. We will be arranging meetings to debrief members on the outcome, discuss strategic options moving forward and to ensure your voice continues to drive our campaign for a fair deal for Service Stream workers and their families.
