Visionstream Telecommunications EA: employees vote NO

Employees at Visionstream Telecommunications (formerly SilcarTelepower) have rejected a proposed Enterprise Agreement.

The new Agreement was put to a vote on Monday16 May.  There was good participation in the ballot, with 89% of those eligible to vote doing so. Of these, 44% voted YES and 56% voted NO.

The CWU is now contacting members and other employees with a view to determining which areas of the Agreement need to be prioritised when discussions with Visionstream management resume.

Provisions identified to date as needing improvement include those relating to standby rosters, planned overtime and the ability for management to require employees to take a portion of their annual leave during periods where there is a lack of work.

It is anticipated that a meeting between management and employee representatives, including the CWU, will be held on Wednesday 1 June. Any Visionstream employees who have not responded to the survey are urged to do so before that date.
