PostConnect workers who are still doing work that has been sold to ABNote are being overloaded as ABNote expects these remaining workers to absorb the work when other workers leave.
This issue of work overload was raised by the CWU National Office and Vic Branch with Post last week. Post agreed that PostConnect workers should not be expected to absorb work as people exit. Post confirmed that ABNote would have to undertake the work from its own resources or use casuals. But the idea of using casuals really demonstrates that the Post people managing the transition don’t understand that these are skilled jobs.
ABNote seems to be running the show and has told PostConnect workers that they will be required until January next year. This they say is so that those employees taking up jobs with ABNote can have their departure from Post and commencement with ABNote staggered over 3 months in order to avoid Fair Work requirements that transferring employees remain covered by Post EBA.
But Post has re confirmed to the union that the transition period will conclude end of May for operational people and end of July for administration and IT people said Post.
Obviously, Post and ABnote reached agreement on the transfer of PostConnect work to ABnote but protecting PostConnect workers in the transition period was not part of the deal.
