nbn technical employees have voted to accept a new enterprise agreement covering workers at the company's Network Operations Centre.
Negotiations for the agreement were still ongoing when the company put it out to employees for a vote. Agreement had not been reached over a number of issues but primarily over the wage rise.
The CWU considered that the pay offer, which provided a 4.5% rise over 3 years, was too low and was likely to represent a real wage freeze (i.e. after taking account of inflation) or even a real wage decline over the period.
The union negotiators considered that they could not recommend such a proposal to our members.
Two other agreements covering nbn staff in contact centres and administrative areas were also voted up by employees in those areas, while one covering professional staff was rejected.
