Silcar Telecommunications (formerly Telepower) has indicated that it wants to see a fresh ballot for a new Enterprise Agreement (EA) early next month.
Negotiations for an agreement have continued since May this year, when employees rejected an agreement that delivered a 2.5% per annum wage rise and included a number of significant –and contentious -changes to conditions.
Since then the CWU and other employee representatives have been trying to reach agreement on a new draft that addresses employee concerns.
The most recent negotiating meeting was held on Thursday 11 August and, based on discussions that day, the parties are now aiming at having a new draft EA available for employee consultations during the week beginning 22 August. The idea is to get feedback from employees before going to a formal vote.
Once consultations have taken place Silcar will be looking to put the agreement out for the mandatory 7 day access period before going to a vote.
