Telstra's "While You're There" Initiative

Telstra has proposed changes nationally in their Maintenance & Construction workforce that are working on the CONNECT system.

With the initiative called “While You’re There”, this is to respond to high, low severity faults and funded projects (aka so-called Milk Runs) within a timely manner.

Telstra has advised that the system does not track CT’s in real time. The system generates a snap shot (from current GPS data) of the CT’s location three times a day and only details shown are the CT’s name and mobile.

The system can drill down to a suburb or township area only and does not impact on CT’s KPIs as advised by Telstra management.

The CWU National Office is still in consultation with Telstra regarding this proposal. Affected members can contact their local branch or alternatively leave feedback on the CWU National website.
