Following the CWU national office notification to the Fair Work Commission, Post agreed to 3 employees being released from operational duty for 2 weeks to develop an alternative proposal to outsourcing End User Computing (EUC) jobs. The proposal to the Post Board to outsource jobs to Fujitsu has been deferred to June. Post had intended to go to the Board on 8 May.
Up until this point the consultation with workers and their union has been a farce. The slideshows and Q&A sessions are box ticking exercises. When workers raise operational issues they are brushed off. But the union and its members have a right under the Post EA to influence decisions on significant changes before they are made. So we went to the FWC.
The CWU guys along with the CWU national office have now provided Post with alternative proposals. Click here to see our proposals. We have told Post that the decision to outsource EUC is not well thought out. The alternative proposals put by workers and their union should be trialled for 12 months. Post should go back to the drawing board and examine who and what must be kept because they are critical to the organisation. Post must respond to our alternative proposals by 21 May.
