TWU - The Weakest Union

While CEPU members across the country were voting to support EBA9, locking in their hard fought terms and conditions another Union was actively seeking to undermine your efforts.

You may have seen the TWU in your workplace trying to convince members that “We’ll do better” or “We’ll get you 5%” – well what a sad joke that was.

The protected action ballot sought by the TWU was overwhelmingly defeated last week – they didn’t even make the participation threshold of their own miniscule membership required to engage in protected action.

It did however reveal the size of their Union within Australia Post – 263 members.

Forget the 1% - the TWU are representing only 0.1%. We hope these members will now see through the TWU propaganda and return to their proper union.

The numbers don’t lie. The real industrial strength in our industry is the CEPU.

We don’t think they’ll be bothering postal workers for some time after this humiliating result but next time you see them here are a couple of questions you might like to ask:

What kind of industrial power can you wield with 0.1% of the workforce with you; and

How are you so disengaged with your members that you can't even organise a 50% return with 263 members?

We are calling out their actions because the Union movement is about working together, not fighting each other. When they work that out too – we’ll all be better off.
